The Ferrari 500 Superfast made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show on March 1964, replacing the 400 Superamerica as the top-of-the-line Grand Touring Ferrari. At twice the price of a « production » Ferrari like the 275 GTB, the factory sales brochures asserts that this is a Ferrari for « sovereigns, performers and great industrialists ». Produced at 36 examples + an additional example being attributed to the model, a 500 Superfast serie one body style based on 330 GT 2+2 1st series chassis 6267 and engined by its 4 liters ordered by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, a longtime customer of the factory and close relative to the Commendatore. Divided into twenty- six serie one and eleven serie two, the 500 Superfast remains today one of the most sought-after Ferrari of the 60s, it symbolizes the state-of-the-art of Ferrari craftmanship, prestige, refinement, exclusivity and raw power, before the brand entered the more industrial era of large-scale GTs production.
